Emotions in terms of anger, jealousy, happiness and sadness are just some of the aspects of life that one has to deal with. Emotions are a reaction to physical stimuli that the mind perceives. The intensity of the emotions depends upon the strength of the stimuli. Usually when the mind is threatened by too much intensity of a stimuli it has a tendency to react with emotions matching the intensity of the stimulus. Thus, it becomes necessary to regulate emotions so that they do not prove detrimental to the self.

Your emotional intelligence or the E.I. quotient measures the ability to controlling ones emotions in a stressful situations. It particularly seeks to monitor your anger and depression to enable your self-control over these emotions. The self is dependent upon the mind and emotions as the perfect balance between the mind and the emotions actually determines the well-being of the self.

To explain the self-dynamics it is important to understand how mind and emotions function together. The mind is the realm of logic and reasoning. It is the theoretical basis of making a sound judgment in order to achieve goals or objectives successfully. Emotional judgment is often inaccurate and may not lead the individual to achieve the goal. Therefore, whenever making a decision it is necessary to maintain mind over emotions. No matter how strong ones anger is against a particular person or situation, in a formal setting like the office environment it is necessary to maintain a sense of peace and calm as regarding your emotions. The self is represented through your personality, so if you have a balance between your mind and emotions you should be able to enjoy a stress free life. Another evaluation is to consider the resistance points in our lives. These are the issues that will cause irritation and that can cause you to act on emotion. We need to face the facts that we may need to learn how to properly deal with these situations. These situations can be very difficult to move past but we have to ask what is bothering us and how we can learn and grow to better deal with the situation. This can provide great wisdom and move us ahead in terms of self-control.

We also often tend to ignore ourselves in the equation. We need to stop focusing on the needs of others too much and think about our needs too. We need to stop the worrying, as this will not aid us in any form or fashion. The need to be focused is one that is crucial and when we focus, only on others we are not assisting ourselves in the effort to develop self and self-control. We need to better ourselves to better others and not the other way around. The worrying about others is useless as we cannot control their destiny and this is wasted energies that you need to focus inwards.

The need to realize that regardless of the situation and the players in the situation the only thing that is of concern is what you do about the situation. What occurred and the players are in the past and this cannot be changed. You can however try to perceive the situation from the best possible light and move forward with new self-control and a positive reaction. You have to realize the need not to cast judgment and to accept the circumstances and move forward positively.

Approaching all the situations that crop up and dealing with any issues that are unresolved. In self control this means acknowledging the situation that occurred and talking about it without prejudice then moving forward knowing that you have done all in your power. The process of moving forward can be the most difficult and that will require self-control but overall it is worthwhile in the end.

There are all kinds of situations that we will face in life and that can lead us down the path that we feel hopeless and unable to act. We have to consider the best action or even inaction and show great self-control in such situations. It is vital that we are able to move past these hurdles in life and those we are able to show self-direction and control. Developing self-control is essential for healthy living.
